true friendship

 

If this were our back yard
would you come visit us?
Would you bring gifts to us
when you come over because
you think we are such good friends?

Would you go out of your way to tell us
how much you like us?
That you value our friendship?
That you would do anything for us?

It's funny how people will do and say
the things they must in order to
be around those who will profit them.
We should befriend those who cannot
give anything back to us.
Those who have nothing to offer but company.

That is what true friendship is.
It gives expecting nothing in return.

If this was our backyard,
we'd invite you over.
